Maybelline BB Cream Review

Another first for me as I’ve never used BB cream before, this has taken the beauty world by storm but people either love it or really don’t see what the big deal is about. I can’t see how one product can make this much difference but some people do swear by this and it has become a must have in their make up bag.

BB Cream also known as either Blemish Balm, Blemish Base, Beblesh Balm was up to recently a cosmetic product sold in mainly east and south-east Asia. It has now been picked up by larger beauty brands and promoted mainly in the western markets as BB Cream or Beauty Balm. It wasn’t until 2011/2012 that we started seeing them pop up in brands such as Garnier, Dior and Clinique. Nearly every well known make up brand now has a BB product but do they actually live up to the hype?

BB Cream is the multi-tasker of beauty products, so what does it actually do?. It’s meant to do all these:

  • Moisturiser
  • Primer
  • Foundation
  • Sunblock

One product acting as all these at once, doesn’t sound possible does it?. With popularity growing everyday could this be way  to go when it comes to getting ready in the mornings and instead of having multiple products having just one that does it all.

I tried Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream which claims to be an 8 in 1 skin perfector. It comes in 4 shades Light, Medium, Dark and Universal Glow. Advertised as the perfect way to effortlesly look fresh-faced without looking made-up, it’s having a good skin day, everyday. The 8 advantages it states are:

  • Imperfections Look Blurred
  • A Natural Looking Glow
  • Fresh Feel
  • Compliments Skin Tone
  • Skin Looks Smooth
  • Hydrates
  • Protects With SPF 30
  • Oil-Free, Non-Greasy

In one word I LOVE this product, its not so amazing that I’ll never use my usual foundation and other products ever again but as a busy mum this is a life saver. Any mum knows (and not just mums) time is never on your side first thing in the morning and we’ve all turned up to work slap free feeling less that perfect. This will definitely be my go to in the mornings that I have no time or on a day that I want the make up free look with a little bit of cheating. It’s worth buying in my opinion as it does what it says.

Hope this helps, let me know your experiences with BB Cream. I’d love to try Erborian BB Creme but it’s no available in the UK yet, anyone tried it?
