Ghostbusters 2016 Review

Last night I was lucky enough to see a preview showing of the new Ghostbusters film, my eldest daughter was very excited as she’d had her eye on this film ever since the trailers started.

I on the hand was sceptic about it, I’m a huge fan of the older films (as are most) and my fear was this was going to be just another remake, after all how could they live up to the originals?

There are a lot of nay sayers out there just because the cast are female which I think is unfair, in no way is it an anti-men which I’ve heard a couple of times it can be enjoyed by everyone.

Be aware that thereally may be spoilers ahead, don’t say I didn’t warn you:

This modern take on our much loved Ghostbusters films is a must see for all and you will be suprised by how much you enjoy it.

I’d say from 8 up is perfect age if your taking your kids but obviously younger if your kids are tough.

The cast each have the perfect roles, Melissa Mccarthy brings her effortless comedy to the film without going overboard. Kristen Wiig is a little more serious (but not too much) , the yin to Mccarthy’s yang. Kate Mckinnon is awesome she’s basically that friend you have that says whatever she’s thinking with some added crazy and Leslie jones completes the girls with her down to earth humour even though her encounters with ghosts should have her running for the hills.

Ghostbusters Review

Of course you can’t forget the dim receptionist Kevin (played by Chris Hemsworth) which brought a lot of laughs to the table.

The story of course unfolds with a haunting but as you’ll see from watching the film these random hauntings are not what they seem.

My favourite bit was having cameos from our beloved Ghostbusters,  Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, unfortunately one short RIP Harold Ramis. There was also an appearance from slimer, the original receptionist played by Annie Potts  and the original haunted lady herself Sigourney Weaver.

It’s a great story line with ups and downs and laughs along the way. Don’t be put of by it been different from the original or bad reviews, you will enjoy it. Decide for yourself 😊

Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Review

I’ve been using Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt for a good couple of months now and I wanted to make sure I used it really well before I gave you my opinion and review of the product.

Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Review
Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt

I’m one of those people that no matter how much I’ve tried to remove every last trace of my mascara and eyeliner I still end up with some sort of panda eyes happening in the morning. Which is annoying when you feel like you’ve rubbed your skin raw. I’ve tried various different methods and materials, wipes never seem to be enough even the ones made especially for eye makeup removal and although cotton pads with liquid makeup remover work like I said there is always some left behind.

Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt gel to cleanser

The Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt is a gel-to-oil cleanser, preforms like a gel and make up removal of an oil. It’s a lightweight formula that melts and thoroughly removes makeup and impurities.

Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Review

To use simply smooth the gel over your entire face (dry skin not wet), massage until the gel transforms into lightweight oil,  the makeup and impurities will be removed. Then all there is left to do is rinse and your left with clean soft skin.

I’ve used this with various amount of makeup from daytime natural to night on the town and it removes it so well. My skin feels clean and fresh afterwards a feeling that lasts until morning. It even removes my waterproof mascara and waterproof eyeliner which are stubborn to say the least. One of the best qualities of this product is it doesn’t leave my skin sore from scrubbing the makeup off, that always made my skin feel 100% worse. My skin has improved as it doesn’t get the torture of makeup removal anymore. I’d recommend trying this not only for removing stubborn makeup but also to make removing your makeup easier and quicker, the less time consuming something is the more your willing to make it part of your daily routine.

Review : Benefit Puff Off!

Every woman has those little wonder products in their makeup bag, the mascara that lengthens your eyelashes, the lip gloss that gives you fuller lips and all these help us achieve our daily look.

But what if you don’t have anything but 15 mins to get ready in the morning, concealing and contouring will take too much of that time and you can’t leave the house with only half a face on. Whether your a mum on the school run, in a rush to beat traffic to get to work or trying to recover from a night out Benefit Puff Off! Will help you out.

Benefit Puff Off review

Benefit Puff Off! Is an eye gel that instantly smooths puffiness under the eyes. The gel itself is peach coloured and has only a slight fragrance. If you’ve used Benefit products before such as Benefit Eyecon or Benefit Its potent then you’ll love this little wonder. Not only does it smooth puffy tired eyes but will also smooth out fine lines and creases. It can be used alone or under makeup.

Benefit Review Puff Off

Personally I use this when I’m short for time in the mornings or running a little late for the school run. It’s suprising how much of a difference it makes, I use it along side Benefit It’s potent eye cream which is a brightening cream that fades dark circles. I like that the formula is light, cooling to the skin and you only need a little for each eye so a little really does go a long way. The photo above show you just how little you need to use to achieve results.

Unboxing Marvel Avengers Age Of Ultron Mystery Merchandise Box by Bay-57

The husband and I were eyeing up this company for a couple of weeks but since we’re not Game Of Thrones fans and we didn’t quite fancy the Star Wars box we hadn’t got round to placing an order. Then after we saw Marvel Avengers Age of Ultron we were having another look and found they’d brought out a Marvel Avengers Age of Ultron Mystery Merchandise Box. Not as cheap as other subscription boxes at £34.99 plus delivery but the box is said to be worth over £60.

And here it is in (not quite) all its glory. Keep reading…

+ Iron Man Fabrications
+ Thor from a set of Funky Wacky Wobblers
+ Micro Comic Fun Pack
+ The Mighty Thor T-Shirt

By our estimates we worked out the value of this box at less than £50 and not more than £60 as advertised and so contacted Bay-57 for clarification and see if a mistake was made. With no response to email my husband contacted them via Instagram and then through their advice through Facebook messenger.

My husband and daughter unboxing:

We got told that our box did look a few items light and they agreed to send out some extras to make it what it should have been. We were told that it must have been a picking error and the items should be with us in a few days.

Unfortunately the items that turned up where another mini comic and a pair of Captain American shot glasses that appeared to be old stock.

We were more than dissapointed and once again my husband contacted them only this time it took them 1 week to respond.
I can only really sum up what a dissapointment ordering from this company has been from beginning to end, I’ve learnt that they are fairly new in the box market but for such a saturated market they needed to be on their game as they’ve obviously had stock issues and their customer service could do with a lot of improvement. We were offered more items but then told as we’d already had more items then they couldn’t send more out. We still question the items value total as it did not amount to over £60, they said it did but I think they exaggerated the cost of each item so it would add up to over £60 to cover themselves. We could return the box at our own cost and have a refund but in the end it wasn’t worth dealing with them anymore so we decided enough was enough.

The contents weren’t 100% bad, I love the Fabrikation and the t-shirt but the box to me didn’t fulfill what they were advertising. It was a let down, not worth the cost, their claims of been over £60 and then their appalling customer service just undid any liking I had of the box at the beginning.

I wish I’d fully looked at this company and the problems other customers had before we ordered with them, I can’t see us ordering from them in the future. All I can say is if your going to order then order with caution, you may be lucky and have no problems or you may end up feeling like us which is dissapointed and out of pocket.

Review: Rimmel BB Cream Matte

In the October GlossyBox I received a sample size of Rimmel BB Cream Matte,  this 8ml sample is perfect for trying out a product before buying it.

Rimmel London BB Cream Matte Review

It comes in two shades light and medium, personally light wasn’t light enough for me as it still looked a little dark on my skin tone but not so much that it wasn’t wearable. Just make sure your neck matches your face by applying down your neck too if needed.

Rimmel London BB Cream Matte Swatch

This 9in1 skin perfecting super makeup primes, moistures, minimises pores, conceals, covers, smoothes, mattifies, brightens and protects your skin. That’s a lot of a product that costs roughly £6.99.
So does it do all it says? Yes

I needed no primer underneath as the formula went on easily, the formula felt a little thick but I find this is common with most matte products but depending on how oily your skin is you may not find this a problem.

It covered up spots easily, only needed a little dab of extra product on stubbon spots and it covered dark circles without need of any extra product. My skin looked smoother without looking caked, it really only took a small amount of product so a full size would go a long way.

The matte formula speaks for itself as no shine is left but the brightening action makes your skin look natural. Also has SP15 to protect your skin on a daily basis.

All in all this is the perfect product for combination / oily skin. The formula although thick doesn’t clog your pores and once on feels like your wearing no make up at all. Its a time saver for anyone who hasn’t got a lot of time for make up in the morning or to throw in your bag and apply later. Busy mums for instance or students can take full advantage of this product that can do many things for a fraction of the cost of buying loads of products.

I would recommend this product and I’m hoping they will extend there range of shades.

Review: Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation

I received a sample of this product from latest in beauty, I had to go digging for more information on the product before I actually used it as no information came in the box.

Review Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation
Review Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation

This multi-tasking translucent foundation which will leave your skin with a dewy glow. It comes in two shades that can be used separately or combined together to get your perfect complection match.
No Foundation Foundation diffuses imperfections, corrects skin undertones and minimises the apperance of fine lines and pores over time with regular use of course.Extra bonuses are it is mineral based and has SPF30.

When I first put this on my skin I wasn’t quite sure the colour matched my skin but with minimal effort the colour adapted to my skin tone.  I was left with bright, youthful looking skin but I’m not use to havinh glowing skin and to me my skin just looked oily. This calmed down after a while and it looked more natural so if there are any other girls with oily skin reading this, give it a chance first. Its a good product but it wasn’t enough coverage to me, Its light coverage and I prefer a little bit more. Also even though the product is unperfumed I could smell the product, I find this with some products and have ended up just not been able to use them because I don’t like been able to smell it all through the day. It wasn’t unpleasant but it wasn’t nice either.

Overall I would use this product but not on a daily basis for the reasons above. I think I’ll stick to my foundation for this one.

Review: Pamper Products for Face & Body

I’ve received various pamper products from beauty boxes and ones I’ve ordered myself lately. With the colder days well under way its the perfect time to treat your skin to some luxury after all the cold weather can be hard on your skin. I’m so happy I found the time to relax and try these items this week, I find it hard to find the time to relax so when I do find it I go all out and usually end up with the best night sleep I’ve had it ages.

Eyeko Hydrogel Eye patches

The Hydrogel Eye Patch comes in a little packet with as you can guess a little under eye patch for each eye. It claims to visibly diminish the appearance of dark shadows and puffiness for the delicate patch of skin under your eyes. Leaving the skin hydrated, firm and your eyes brighter. When I put these on all I could think is the felt cold and wet but its not too bad. Once on you leave on for 30 minutes, its easy to forget they are there so don’t go out with them on. My eyes did look less tired, more radiant and the skin did feel firmer. I’m glad I have another pack as I’ll be scheduling in another pamper session soon.

Skin Pep : Brightening Enzyme & Acid Peel

Skin Pep September GlossyBox

A professional grade peeling gel that targets dark spots and dissolves dead skin to leave skin exfoliated, soft and vibrant. It’s paraben, alcohol,  perfume, mineral oil and artificial dyes free. simply wet the skin and apply massaging but not rubbing the skin. I could leave it on for 5 mins or more for my skin type but for dry or sensitive I’d stick to 1-2 minutes.  Then add water to active gel and wash off. I found my skin was definitely softer and bright but the day after my skin was slightly dry from this nothing some moisturiser couldn’t solve.

Sanctuary Spa : White Lily & Damask Rose Body Lotion

After a hot bath, I finished off my pampering evening with this beautiful body lotion. Described as lightweight formula and delicate fragrance I can tell you that is exactly what it is. The formula was easily absorbed by my skin and the delicate smell of rose was beautiful and not at all overpowering. Definitely worth a try.

Review: Kryolan Highlighter Cashmere (for GlossyBox)

Among the products of the August Glossybox was a Highlighter made by Kryolan for Glossybox. I’ve used Kryolan products before so it was a product I was looking foward to using but I can’t say I was that excited that it was a highlighter.

GlossyBox August Birthday Box

Described as the perfect versatile highlighter cream that can be used on cheekbones, lips and other parts of the skin you wish to highlight. The lightweight formula makes it very wearable as once you’ve put it on you wont notice its there for the rest of the day.

Kroylan Highlighter Cashmere

I used this as a brow bone highlighter as well as on my cheekbones but you can also use in otherways such as your cupids bow. The product recieved was full size worth £12.95.

I love the kryolan highlighter itself, its definitely lightweight, great highlighter perfect for brow bone highlighting. The texture is smooth, takes minimal product to the job and gives you that wide awake look if you are running late. But at £12.95 its quite a steep price for the job it does when you can get similar products for cheaper. I guess it all comes down to how much your willing to spend on a highlighter. As I had it in GlossyBox, this product alone is almost the cost of the box itself.

Review: Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

In the August GlossyBox I received the Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer,  I couldn’t wait to receive this item as I heard so much about it before hand. It was a sneak peek item and I think its one everyone received. The rest of the box I found quite disappointing as it was just standard products so decided not to do a reveal on this particular box even if it was their birthday box.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Review

The first thing that drew me to this product was that it was originally created specifically for screen icon Audrey Hepburn, who wouldn’t be intrigued by that, I am a huge fan of her films and her style so its almost like having a piece of her beauty knowledge to have a product that was designed just for her.

Audrey Hepburn

This pre-shampoo treatment gives unrivalled elasticity, manageability,  bounce and shine. All this without weighing down or coating your hair hair and it can be used by all hair types. Just wet your hair, add the treatment, sit with a towel or shower cap on your hair for 10-20 mins depending on your hair type and then shampoo and condition as normal.

I have never found a hair product that lives up to all it says it will do so perfectly as this product. With the first use their was so much vitality and movement to my hair. To the touch it was silky soft and still is numerous washes down the line. It works perfectly with the rockabilly, 50s look for curls with bounce and shine.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer 2

A definite buy and worth its cost as you’ll feel every inch the movie star. Full Size £ 38 for 250ml.

Review: ModelCo More Brows Fibre Gel

With this months GlossyBox I recieved the ModelCo More Brows Fibre Gel. I knew before hand that this was likely to be in my September box due to the sneak peek they gave us. I was excited about trying this product as I usually just use a black eyeshadow or pencil through my brows but I am terrible at remembering to set them and have ended up with smudged brows on more occasions that I care to think about. It just isn’t a good look.

GlossyBox September ModelCo More Brows

I tried this out straight away and I can tell you it’s worth the money. It goes on wet and sets dry so my main problem is solved. The coverage is perfect as long as you don’t go to heavy handed but you also have to want the bold brow so only a little bit isn’t going to get you your desired effect.

To use the product:
Just unscrew the wand from the bottle as you do with mascara and then brush the your eyebrows upwards (don’t press as this will cake your skin with product. Its that simple to get bold brows.

GlossyBox September ModelCo More Brows Fibre Gel Review

It comes in two shades light-medium and medium-dark. If you haven’t got your GlossyBox yet I’d get it for this product alone which is worth £14.95 for 3.5ml and you get the full size product.
